Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 5: Bermuda vs. USA
Both teams have agreed to play another match right now after they break for lunch. It will be a 25-over match. So still more commentary to come. This will not count for any standings points, but will give the players a chance to get more match practice.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 5: Bermuda vs. USA
Just as the players are getting ready to walk out, the groundsman walked out to the pitch to take the stumps out and from the looks of things, do some end of day maintenance. Apparently he's the only guy at the stadium who wasn't informed that both teams have agreed to play a second match.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 5: Bermuda vs. USA
Steven Taylor and Arsh Buch walk out to open for USA in this 25 over match. Zico Burgess will open the bowling for Bermuda from the North End. Steven Taylor will be on strike, Buch off strike to start. Wide, short and down leg, Taylor is late attempting to pull. Single, good length outside off, punched through the off side. Buch takes guard, a right hand bat. Wide, short and way outside off. Dot, short outside off, left alone. Two, full on the legs, pushed past the bowler and beats mid on for a pair. Two, outside off, guided to third man for another pair. Two, low full toss timed through the covers for another couple. Dot, short of a length outside off, left alone. USA 9/0 in 1.
Bonus coverage for the second match today between USA U-18 and Bermuda U-18 is made possible in part by the New Inning Foundation.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 5: Bermuda vs. USA
Kwaisi James to open from the Pavilion End, right arm slow medium with the keeper Christian Burgess standing back. Taylor on strike. FOUR! Full on the legs, Taylor swings easily to club it over midwicket, one bounce and a boundary. Long on sent to the rope now, the only man out of the ring. SIX! Taylor skips down the track and slogs a full ball a mile high in the air, not timed very well but still carried 15 yards over the rope at long off and lands just inside the fence. Mid off now pushed back to the rope. FOUR! Fullish outside off, Taylor goes after it and slices it between slip and gully, streaky but safe in the end as it bounces to the third man rope. Dot, short outside off, Taylor goes for an almighty pull shot and plays over the top. Single, good length on the hips, clipped behind square. Dot, full and defended. USA 24/0 in 2.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 5: Bermuda vs. USA
Zico Burgess to Taylor. Third man and long off out on the rope. Two, short on the stumps, Taylor rocks back to pull, doesn't time it well and it lands 10 yards short of the rope and dies right there before midwicket in the circle runs out to field. FOUR! Fullish outside off, Taylor drives square and it goes past backward point, third man on the rope is pretty fine and he has no chance to cut it off. FOUR! Full and very wide, Taylor goes after it and strikes a hammer blow behind point again, third man on the rope had gone much squarer after the previous boundary but this one flew off the middle of the bat. No ball and SIX! Full toss outside off at chest height, Taylor cracks it high over point and it carries over the rope. He's on a rampage right now. FOUR! Another full toss, this time at knee height and he crushes it high over cover. Taylor has his foot planted firmly on the accelerator right now and he won't let up until he's out. Single, full outside off, goes to drive through the covers but mistimes it through midwicket. Dot, full toss on the hips, Buch misses it and it goes off his thigh for no run. Dot, full outside off and left, seven ball over by my count. USA 46/0 in 3.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 5: Bermuda vs. USA
K James to Taylor. Christian Burgess now up to the stumps. Two, full outside off, lofted drive over cover, not timed well and it dies in the outfield grass. Single, full on the legs, clipped through midwicket. Taylor on 40 off just 14 balls, only one dot in his innings so far. Dot, full on the legs, Buch misses a flick to the leg side. Dot, full on the legs, clipped to fine leg. Dot, full outside off and left. Dot, short of a length outside off, defended to point. USA 49/0 in 4.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 5: Bermuda vs. USA
Delray Rawlins comes on now to bowl left arm spin to Taylor, replacing Zico Burgess. Around the stumps. FOUR! Short of a length on the legs, punched wide of mid on. DROPPED! Two, full toss on the stumps at shin height, Taylor drives it toward mid on where Jordan Smith gives a leap and parries it over his head toward the mid on rope. He's a short kid. Someone taller there like William White would have taken it easily. FOUR! Full on the legs, Taylor sweeps hard past fine leg and brings up his 50 in just 17 balls. Rawlins comes over the wicket now. FOUR! Full on the stumps, chipped high over mid on and bounces over the rope. Single, full and driven to mid on. Rawlins back around the stumps to Buch for the last ball. Dot, full and driven to Rawlins. USA 64/0 in 5.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 5: Bermuda vs. USA
K James to Taylor. Dot, full on the stumps and defended, only Taylor's second dot ball. Dot, short on the stumps, pulled hard but straight to midwicket. FOUR! Short on the legs, flicked high over square leg, 9 boundaries now for Taylor to go along with 2 sixes. Dot, full outside off, driven to cover. Dot, full outside off, Taylor was aiming to drive over cover and mishit it to midwicket. Single, short of a length on off, driven to long off. Only 5 runs in that over, the least expensive of the match for Bermuda. USA 69/0 in 6.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 5: Bermuda vs. USA
Joshua Gilbert comes on from the North End after one over from Rawlins. Right arm off spin over the stumps to Taylor. FOUR! Full outside off, driven powerfully in the air over cover, a sweeper put out there had no chance despite having only about 10 yards to cover to cut it off. FOUR! The sweeper moves toward extra cover after the last ball, now Taylor drives a full ball outside off square behind point and the sweeper chases futilely the opposite way. Leg bye, good length on the pads, Taylor goes to flick and misses off the pad as the ball beats the keeper. Single, run out chance missed! Buch pushed a full ball to the right of Gilbert who dove and stopped. Taylor took off thinking the ball had gotten by. Gilbert with poor awareness there. He could have gotten up off his feet and walked to the stumps to take the bails off. Instead he fired a panicky through with one stump to aim at from 5 yards out and missed. Single. Dot. USA 80/0 in 7.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 5: Bermuda vs. USA
Taylor on strike on 69, should have been run out for 68 in the last over. K James to bowl to him. Two, full on the legs clipped in the air to deep midwicket, the fielder is slow running to the ball and they hustle two. Single, full and driven to long on. Dot, full outside off, Buch goes back to drive and misses. Single, full outside off, driven past short cover. SIX! Full on off stump, Taylor has a go at this and strikes it sweet, the ball sails way over long on, 20 yards past the rope and into the fence. Two, full outside off, Taylor drives behind point and they hustle for two. USA 92/0 in 8.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 5: Bermuda vs. USA
Gilbert to Buch, the first time this match that Buch has been on strike at the start of an over. Dot, full and clipped to midwicket. Single, full and driven to mid on. Single, low full toss on the legs driven to long on. Dot, full outside off, driven off Gilbert to mid off. Single, full on the legs, driven to mid on. OUT! Full outside off, drilled flat and hard toward the long off boundary. Zico Burgess runs in five yards, steadies himself and gets his hands up in front of his face before the ball takes his head off. Good catch and it was coming very fast. Karkeek Kankanala is coming in to bat so forget what I said before about him being out of the XI in this match. Taylor out for 81 in 35 balls, USA 95/1 after 9 overs.
