2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
Good afternoon from the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida. Peter Della Penna here where it's been a soggy morning and early afternoon. I was woken up at 6:30 a.m. by a massive thunderstorm that brought sheets of rain down on the area. The thunder and lightning moved on around 9 a.m. but the rain has been here until about an hour ago. They've been working on the pitch since then and it looks like we may get started sometime around 3 p.m. or shortly after. At the very least, we will get 20 overs per side in barring any further interruptions, but we could get as many as 25 in depending on what the umpires determine. Both teams are now warming up on the outfield. The main concern earlier from the umpires was the bowlers' run ups and they are giving some extra attention to those now with one of the rollers to help get the water out of there. We'll see how soon they can get things ready. Just a reminder to fans following along that DreamCricket.com's coverage of the 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Camp is made possible in part by the New Inning Foundation.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
While USA was warming up it appeared that one of their players injured his left leg. Not 100% sure but it looked like it was Dave Parikh who had to be helped off the field by two teammates. Not a good start to the match proceedings for USA if the vice-captain was KO'd in warmups.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
The word is that we will play a 30-over match. They can't use the stadium lights here, but it stays light until 8 pm here so squeezing 60 overs into five hours shouldn't be too tough to pull off. The toss has just taken place out in the middle. We'll get you the word when it comes up into the pavilion.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
USA has won the toss and elected to bat first. Dave Parikh is indeed injured and was taken out at the last minute. Roshan Varadarajan was going to sit out today in favor of Omari Williams but with Parikh injured, Varadarajan was put back into the XI on the team sheet. The other two out are Karan Patel and Karteek Kankanala. USA XI: Taylor (captain/WK), Ahmad, Amarnauth Persaud, Altekar, Wilson, Goel, Tariq, Buch, Varadarajan, Ryan Persaud, Williams. Canada XI: Aurka (captain), Shekhar (WK), Kapoor, Dutta, Joseph, Anantharajah, Khan, Gillar, Dhillon, Gill, Manoosingh. Shan Anantharajah is coming into the XI in place of Arjun Parikh from the team that played Monday vs. Bermuda.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
Steven Taylor and Shakeel Ahmad walk out to open again for USA. Taylor with a hat, Ahmad with a helmet. Taylor to start on strike. Amanpal Gillar will open for Canada right arm medium around the stumps from the Pavilion End. No slip, a gully in place. Third man and deep cover on the rope. 30 over match. Wide, full and down leg. FOUR! Full toss outside off, Taylor nearly takes Armaan Kapoor's head off at short cover after a pulverizing drive. Deep cover only had 15 yards to cover but couldn't cut it off before the rope. Single, good length on the legs, tucked into the off side. Gillar comes over the wicket to Ahmad. Dot, good length outside off, left alone. Dot, full and very wide, left alone, just inside the wide markers. Dot, full on the stumps, pushed to mid on. Wide, full toss way down leg, the keeper does well to save five wides. Three, full outside off, driven very hard through the covers, yesterday that would have been four but the outfield has some water in it to slow it down, they run hard for only the second three by any side this week. USA 10/0 in 1.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
Abrash Khan to open from the North End, right arm medium over the stumps to Ahmad. Dot, short outside off, goes to cut and misses. Wide, short and down leg. Dot, full on the stumps, defended to point. Dot, low full toss driven through Khan's legs but mid off cuts it off to save a run. FOUR! Short and wide, cut powerfully behind point and third man can't save it on the rope. Ahmad timing the ball much better than he was yesterday. Dot, full on the stumps, pushed to mid off. Dot, short of a length on off stump, Ahmad is cramped for room playing the cut and is late, lucky not to edge that through to the keeper. USA 15/0 in 2.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
Gillar to Taylor. Dot, low full toss well outside off, driven hard toward Kapoor at short cover and he makes a brilliant diving one-handed stop. Single, short of a length outside off, Taylor rocks back to punch it to the cover sweeper. Dot, good length ball on the stumps, Ahmad goes back to defend to cover. Dot, full outside off, driven to cover. Bye, full outside off, the ball stays low and beats the keeper to get Taylor on strike. Dot, full outside off, goes for a cover drive and mishits hit to midwicket. USA 17/0 in 3.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
Khan to Ahmad. Single, short of a length outside off, punched off the back foot past point. Dot, full on the stumps, defended to short cover. Dot, short of a length on the stumps, defended to Khan. SIX! Full outside off, Taylor frees his arms and launches it over the extra cover boundary. OUT! Short cover was always going to be in play for Taylor. He blasted one by Kapoor's ear in the first over. This time he got a fullish delivery outside off, mistimed it and pushed it straight at Kapoor at chest height. He couldn't believe his luck. Smart bowling by Khan to drag the length back slightly so that Taylor had to reach out a little more than he wanted to. Taylor gone for 12, USA 24/1 in 3.5 overs. Amarnauth Persaud the new man in, left hand bat. Dot, good length ball outside off defended to point. USA 24/1 in 4.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
Gillar to Ahmad. Two wides, full toss sprayed down leg side, they take another run as the keeper can't handle cleanly. Bye, good length ball left alone and somehow goes straight through the keeper. Two wides, short ball way way down leg beats the keeper and fine leg has to clean it up. Two, full outside off, Persaud just leans on it to stroke it past cover. Dot, good length ball on the stumps, big LBW shout as Persaud played across, it was a little high and it looks like it hit him just between the knee and the thigh guard in that unprotected area. He walks it off. Dot, good length ball pushed to midwicket. Single, good length ball on the legs pushed into the on side. Wide, full and down leg. Dot, full and defended. USA 33/1 in 5.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
Khan to Persaud. Dot, short ball on leg stump, Persaud walked way across his stumps to pull and missed. He wants to know why it wasn't called a wide, but he was lucky he wasn't bowled. That's exactly how he got out yesterday, bowled behind his legs missing a pull. Dot, good length ball defended. Single, short on the stumps, pulled very fine to long leg. Dot, full and defended to short cover. OUT! Needless shot by Ahmad. It was full on the stumps and he went for a wild heave with his head way up in the air. Played over the top of it and was clean bowled, halfway up middle stump. Ahmad out for 8, USA 34/2 in 5.5 overs. Randall Wilson the new man in, right hand bat. Dot, good length ball defended.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
Trevor Manoosingh on to bowl leg spin around the stumps to A Persaud. Dot, good length on the legs, padded away. Dot, full and defended to the bowler. Dot, full outside off and pushed to cover. Two, short on the stumps, Persaud shuffles across and pulls it over square leg. Dot, full outside off and pushed to point. Dot, full on the stumps and defended. USA 36/2 in 7.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
Khan to Wilson. Dot, good length ball defended to cover. Dot, good length ball, skids on and Wilson just gets the bat down in time on the back foot to keep it out. Dot, very full and wide, Wilson plays at it without much feet movement, huge appeal but it appeared to be bat on ground. Dot, yorker pitches on the legs, half an appeal as it looked to be missing leg but Wilson is struggling here. Dot, good length ball just outside off, Wilson makes a very tight leave. Two, full toss on the legs is flicked through the leg side, Wilson gets to relieve some of the pressure there and gets off the mark as well. USA 38/2 in 8.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
Manoosingh to A Persaud. Single, loopy delivery lands full on the legs, uses his feet to drive to long on. Single, another ball with a lot of flight lands full and very wide outside off, Wilson drives easily to the cover sweeper. Dot, quicker ball lands full and very wide outside off, left alone. Two, another quicker ball this time on the stumps and full, Persaud lofts it straight back over the bowler's head but not timed well and it stops well short of the rope before long on fields. Dot, full outside off, goes straight on and beats the outside edge. Dot, full on the stumps and pushed to midwicket. USA 44/2 in 9.

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
Zahib Tariq is not a hitter or a lower order batsman. USA needs to send him up #3 or #4. and plus the batting is failling they need to try new players

Re: 2012 ICC Americas U-18 Match Play Day 3: Canada vs. USA
Nikhil Dutta on to bowl off spin, over the stumps to Wilson. Dot, full outside off, beats the outside edge. Dot, full on the stumps, pushed to short cover. No ball, full and defended, free hit coming on an overstep. Single, full toss wide outside odd, stroked to the cover sweeper. Single, short of a length on the stumps, punched through the off side. Dot, full on the stumps, defended. Dot, full outside off, goes to defend and is beaten. USA 47/2 in 10.
