USA U-19 vs. West Indies U-19 Match 4 Live Updates

Hello again from south Florida. Peter Della Penna here at the Central Broward Regional Park on another beautiful sunny morning. A few clouds are out there, but no storms for the early part of the day. West Indies U-19 are looking to complete a 4 match sweep of USA U-19 today. The forecast says it will be sunny until around 4 pm at which time there's a 40% chance of rain. Hopefully that won't happen.

The teams are out on the field doing their exercises and we're about 35 minutes away from the start of play.

Re: USA U-19 vs. West Indies U-19 Match 4 Live Updates

USA has won the toss and elected to bat first.

USA XII: Sewdial (captain), Taylor (vice captain/wk), Nair, Persaud, Mirza, Jodha Singh, Suri, Patel, Shahid, Joshi, Trevor Singh, Abdulghani.

Shayan Abdulghani is listed last on the team sheet so it appears he's 12th man, but USA fielded XI and batted a different XI in the last match so I guess we'll find out in due course what their plans are. The word is that it does seem this is a XII vs. XII match with XI batting and XI fielding.

West Indies XI: Brathwaite (captain), Campbell (vice captain), Greaves, Nelson, Ambris, Senior, Beaton, Hodge, Joseph, Jones, Khan. Don't know who their 12th player is but I believe it will be the keeper Katwaroo so he is part of the 12 that will be bat 11, bowl 11.

Steven Taylor and Cameron Mirza are at the crease, Taylor on strike. They're using the same pitch as Tuesday. Ronsford Beaton to open for the Windies, right arm fast medium. Dot, pearler first up, short of a length on off, rears up and almost gets a glove to the keeper. Dot, full on off stump, pushed to mid off. Dot, short of a length on off stump, defended to cover. Single, short and wide, throws the bat at it, gets a thick edge through vacant third slip and it goes to third man. Two slips and a gully in place. Dot, good length ball on the stumps defended to point. Dot, good length ball on the stumps, defended on the back foot to midwicket. USA 1/0 in 1.

Ramon Senior is keeping today for the Windies. Jerome Jones to open from the Park End, left arm fast medium over the wicket to Taylor. Wide, short and wide, Taylor chases but can't reach and the umpire stretches his arms. Max Diah standing at the Park End, Prem Mangalie from the Pavilion End. Two, short of a length outside off, punched off the back foot behind point and it's an easy two. Dot, short of a length on off stump, defended to cover. Dot, short of a length on the body, tried to flick to fine leg but missed off the ribs. Dot, good length outside off and left. Dot, good length on off stump, defended to point. Three slips in place now. Two, short and wide, slapped over cover for a safe two, thought about the third but the fielder did well to track it down. USA 6/0 in 2.

Beaton to Mirza. Single, full on the stumps, flicked to the on side, they take on mid on and it's a well judged run as the fielder throws and hits Mirza as he passed the crease. Dot, good length outside off and left. Second slip comes out and goes to the cover region. Dot, good length on off stump, flicked to square leg. Dot, short of a length on off stump, defended to the bowler. Wide, full and very wide, chased after it and missed, too far though and it's an extra. Dot, low full toss outside off, driven firmly to mid off. Two, slower ball is a low full toss clipped to midwicket. USA 10/0 in 3.

Jones to Mirza. Five wides, full and wide, Senior does a poor job stopping it, goes under his glove diving across to his right and goes through Greaves at first slip as well all the way to the rope. Dot, short of a length on the body, defended awkwardly off the hip to short midwicket, Taylor wanted a run but Mirza was a little dazed. Dot, short of a length on off stump, defended on the back foot. Single, short of a length on off stump, went to cut, played it with soft hands short of second slip, bounces off Campbell's hands and gets by for a run. Dot, short of a length on the stumps, defended. Single, good length on off stump, guided behind point for another well judged run. Dot, short of a length on the stumps, defended to the bowler. USA 17/0 in 4. Very convincing start so far for USA.

Beaton to Taylor. FOUR! Short and wide, cuts it wide of gully behind point and it's got enough to beat third man on the boundary. Dot, short of a length on off stump, reared up and goes past the gloves. Around the wicket now. FOUR! Full on the stumps, pushed with minimal effort, pure timing and it rockets away past mid off. What a shot. Dot, good length on the stumps, pushed to point. Single, short outside off, sliced in the air but in the gap behind point. Over the wicket to Mirza. Dot, short of a length on the stumps, nails him in the ribs as he takes one hand off the bat trying to defend. Both bowlers are giving Mirza a working over with the short ball but he's battling to stay in. USA 26/0 in 5.

Jones to Taylor. Dot, full on the stumps, defended to cover. Dot, full on the stumps, defended to mid on. Dot, short outside off, goes to cut and nearly chops it onto the stumps, goes to the keeper and he underhands to the stumps, appeal but the leg umpire says his foot was okay. Dot, short outside off, goes to cut again and misses. Dot, good length ball on leg stump, goes to pull and mishits it short of square leg. Dot, good length outside off and left. USA 26/0 in 6.

Kavem Hodge comes on, left arm spin in the 7th over to Mirza. Dot, full and defended. Dot, flighted on a fullish length and defended. Short extra in place. Dot, comes down the track and checks his shot as Hodge pulled back the length. Dot, full on the stumps, flicked to midwicket. OUT! Uses his feet and pushes to Greaves at mid off, Mirza takes him on after a slight hesitation. Taylor responds and appeared to be well in, but umpire Mangalie has given him out after a mild appeal from the Windies. That looked to be a very poor decision. He was running away from us to the Park End, but at the point the ball hit the stumps, his body and bat looked to be well across the line and perhaps even past the stumps. Taylor run out for 17 when he was looking hungry for runs. He takes an extremely long time walking off the field. USA 26/1 in 6.5 overs. Abhijit Joshi the new man in. Dot, full and driven to mid off. Maiden. USA 26/1 in 7.

Hodge to Mirza. Dot. OUT! Run out! Uses his feet to drive a full ball straight back at the bowler. Hodge gets a hand on it and knocks it into Joshi's legs. Mirza took off for some unknown reason. There was never ever a run. Hodge wrestled the ball out from in between Joshi's feet as Mirza turned back and knew his fate was sealed. Hodge tossed the ball to Senior to flick off the bails with Mirza three yards short. Mirza run out for 3. USA 28/2 in 8.2 overs. Greg Sewdial the new man in. Dot, full on off and defended. Dot, full on the stumps and pushed to Hodge. Dot, full and defended. Dot, full and defended. Maiden. USA 28/2 in 9.

Jones to Joshi. Dot, good length on off stump and defended. Dot, full and driven to mid on. Two, short of a length outside off, punched off the back foot through the covers. Single, short of a length on the stumps, flicked off the back foot to midwicket. Single, short of a length outside off, guided behind point. Jones' length has been way too short today. Dot, good length outside off and left. USA 32/2 in 10.

Hodge to Sewdial. Dot, full and defended. Dot, good length ball defended to the bowler, an inexplicable LBW shout as it came off the meat of the bat. Single, full on the stumps, uses his feet and drives in the air to long on. Dot, full and defended. Dot, full on the legs, off the pad to the keeper. Single, short outside off, slapped through the covers to the sweeper. USA 34/2 in 11.

Justin Greaves comes on now, replacing Jones. Right arm fast medium over the stumps to Joshi. Dot, good length ball outside off and left. Dot, full outside off, driven to mid off. Two, full on the stumps, pushed past the bowler and mid off gives chase. OUT! Fullish outside off, goes to drive and connects uppishly to mid off. Very very loose shot. Can't figure out if he was trying to clear the man or he just couldn't keep the ball down. Either way, Jones is one of the tallest guys on the team and he reaches up with both hands to take the catch. Joshi out for 6, USA 36/3 in 11.4 overs. Amarnauth Persaud the new man in, Greaves stays over the wicket to the lefty. Dot. Dot, bouncer and he sways back. USA 36/3 in 12.
