    2012 ICC WCL Division Four Championship Match Live Updates - USA vs. Nepal

     Hello again for the final time from Kuala Lumpur in this tournament. Peter Della Penna here at the Kinrara Academy Oval where USA and Nepal are just finishing up their warmups. It's misting a little bit right now and somewhat overcast but the sun is trying to shine through. This will be the eighth match these two teams have played in four WCL tournaments. Nepal has a slight edge with their win on Friday, 3-2-2 record.

    The toss has just happened. We'll tell you what happened along with lineups shortly. Aditya Thyagarajan will almost certainly be rested today after straining a knee ligament while batting against Singapore in USA's dramatic win. My guess is Abhimanyu Rajp will enter but we'll see for sure when I get the lineups.

    Re: 2012 ICC WCL Division Four Championship Match Live Updates - USA vs. Nepal

     USA has won the toss and will bat first today against Nepal.

    USA XI: Massiah (captain), Taylor (wk), Nadkarni, Mishra, Baker, Allen, Corns, Hutchinson, Shuja, Rajp, Ghous.

    Three changes for USA today. Abhimanyu Rajp, Aditya Mishra and Orlando Baker come in. Aditya Thyagarajan, Andy Mohammed and Akeem Dodson come out. I think it's a mistake to have Dodson and Mohammed sit today. Yes, having Mishra and Baker play will give USA their best XI for a chance to win, but today is just for rankings points and it does not matter if USA wins or loses in the overall grand scheme of things so it would have been very valuable for Mohammed and Dodson to gain some experience facing a quality spin attack like Nepal has, especially as they will see them again in Bermuda next year. So much for giving younger players an opportunity to develop.

    Nepal XI: Khadka (captain), Khakurel (wk), Mandal, Malla, Vesawkar, Gauchan, Airee, Basant Regmi, Sanjam Regmi, Das, Bhattarai.

     Steven Taylor and Aditya Mishra walk out to open for USA, Taylor on strike. Amrit Bhattarai opens the bowling left arm medium over the stumps from the Broadcast Tower End. Single, good length on the legs, clipped to long leg. Mishra takes strike. Single, good length on the stumps, pushed into midwicket. Two, full on the stumps, Taylor goes to drive it over mid on, got more like the toe of the bat and it lobs up just out of the reach of Airee diving backward. On Friday that would have found it's way into a fielder's hands. Dot, short and wide, cut hard to point. FOUR! Full and wide, Taylor drives hard and slashes it over point, third man can't cut it off. Dot, good length ball, Taylor goes to pull and misses as it clears the stumps. USA 8/0 in 1.

     @anilkatwal 3 wins for Nepal, 2 losses and 2 matches with no result.

    Binod Das to open from the Highway End, right arm medium to Mishra over the stumps. Dot, good length ball defended to the bowler. Dot, good length ball left outside off. Dot, full outside off, driven to cover. Dot, full and driven to mid on. Dot, short of a length on off, punched off the back foot to point. Dot, good length outside off, defended to point. Maiden. USA 8/0 in 2.

    On Friday there were about 50 Nepal fans at the ground. Today there are at least twice that many and they are making a ton of noise and waving flags right from the first ball.

     Sanjam Regmi replaces Bhattarai after one over from the Broadcast Tower End. We saw the same thing on Friday with spin brought on in the third over. Sanjam bowling off spin around the stumps to Taylor. Slip and short cover the two catching fielders. Dot, flighted on the legs, goes to sweep and misses off the pads. Dot, good length ball defended. Two, good length ball placed perfectly between mid on and deep midwicket for a pair. Single, good length on the stumps, casually chipped in the air towards mid on but luckily for USA it doesn't carry with the man back on the circle. Regmi now comes over the stumps to Mishra. Slip and leg slip in for him. Dot, good length ball clipped through square leg, should have been a clear run but Taylor was hesitant. Single, good length ball on the legs flicked past leg slip, should have been an easy two, very slack running from Taylor in that over. USA 12/0 in 3.

     @frozenflames No.

    Das to Mishra. Two, good length ball on the stumps, flicked past a diving square leg fielder and it's stopped at the rope by long leg running to his left. Single, good length on the legs, flicked finer this time straight to long leg. Dot, good length ball defended. Dot, good length ball defended. Khadka is again employing himself at short point to the pacers as a second catching fielder for Taylor today in the power play along with first slip.  Single, good length ball pushed to mid on. Dot, good length ball outside off left alone. USA 16/0 in 4.

    Although today's win isn't so much "needed" it's definitely wanted! Considering how well team USA plays under pressure, they should play a phenomenal game today! it's also nice to see the growing support for the team throughout this tournament.

     S Regmi to Taylor. Dot, good length ball on the pads, Taylor goes to flick to midwicket and misses, LBW shout denied. Dot, full on the stumps and defended. I am directly over the pitch today so will have the best view I've had all week for LBW shouts from this end. OUT! Good length ball on the stumps, Taylor goes back to smash it and gets a thin inside edge onto the stumps. He looked lethargic from the moment he walked out there. Wasn't running hard between the wickets, played several lazy shots that could have got him out earlier. This time Regmi gets him and once again it's in the fifth over just like Friday. Taylor out for 11, USA 16/1 in 4.3 overs. Abhimanyu Rajp walks in at number three. Not Baker, not Massiah, not Corns, not Nadkarni. Abhimanyu Rajp. Dot, good length ball goes off the pads to square leg. Dot, full and defended. Dot, good length ball beats the outside edge on a forward defense. Wicket maiden. USA 16/1 in 5.

     Das to Mishra. Dot. Single, good length ball guided to third man. Rajp to face Das, wearing a hat, not a helmet. Dot, good length ball outside off, in two minds to play or leave before letting it go. Dot, good length ball outside off seams back in and beats Rajp defending. OUT! Fullish length ball, Rajp goes to slog it over mid on, thin edge taken at waist height by the keeper Khakurel. We saw the management team send in Rajp at three against Ireland in the World T20 Qualifier in Dubai this past March with poor results. Today was even worse. Absolutely ridiculous. He's a tailender. Instead of putting a proper batsman up at three like Corns or Baker, or the captain himself, Rajp fails in a position where he had no chance to succeed. If they want to play Rajp at three, then again as I said before the start of the match, why are they making Mohammed and Dodson sit? Utterly ridiculous. Rajp out for a six-ball duck, USA 17/2 in 5.5 overs. Sushil Nadkarni enters at number four. Slip and gully in place. Dot, good length ball left outside off. USA 17/2 in 6.

     Bhattarai returns from the Broadcast Tower End after Sanjam Regmi removed Taylor, facing Mishra over the stumps. Dot, good length ball defended. Dot, good length ball defended. Dot, good length ball on off stump swinging in and defended. Dot, short of a length on the stumps, defended on the back foot to the bowler. Dot, full on the pads, swinging into Mishra, he is struck on the pads missing a forward defense, bit LBW shout but from here it was clearly swinging down leg. FOUR! Full toss swinging in low on the stumps, driven firmly down the ground. USA 21/2 in 7.

     Das to Nadkarni. Dot, good length ball beats the forward defense. Dot, short of a length outside off, punched to mid off. Dot, full outside off, Nadkarni mistimes a drive to mid off and the ball rolls softly to the fielder there, Vesawkar. Dot, good length ball defended to Das. Dot, good length ball defended to cover. SIX! Full on the stumps, launched high in the air straight down the ground and as the ball trails over the boundary, the voices of the Nepalese supporters trail off as well. Nadkarni off the mark in style. USA 27/2 in 8.
