2012 ICC WCL Division Four Live Updates - USA vs. Singapore
Good morning here from the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. Peter Della Penna here and we're about 45 minutes away from the start of USA's must win final group match against Singapore. To go over the scenarios again for USA to finish in the top two to gain promotion for Division Three, USA must have Nepal beat Denmark and USA must also beat Singapore by a slim margin to pass Singapore on Net Run Rate. Here are some examples of the equations USA must get to pass Singapore and finish second. USA bats 1st & scores 200: USA must restrict Singapore to 190 or lower. USA bats 1st & scores 225: USA must restrict Singapore to 217 or lower. USA bats 1st & scores 250: USA must restrict Singapore to 243 or lower. Singapore bats 1st & makes 200: USA must reach the target in 48.0 overs. Singapore bats 1st & makes 225: USA must reach the target in 48.3 overs. Singapore bats 1st & makes 250: USA must reach the target in 48.5 overs.

Excellent news for USA. Steve Massiah called correctly today and won the toss. USA will bat first.

USA XI: Massiah (captain), Dodson (wk), Taylor, Nadkarni, Thyagarajan, Mohammed, Allen, Corns, Hutchinson, Shuja, Ghous. Aditya Mishra and Orlando Baker have been dropped for this must win contest. Bold move to let go of two experienced players. Akeem Dodson gets his first game of the tourney and Andy Mohammed comes in as well. Abhimanyu Rajp remains on the bench. Singapore XI: Saad Janjua (captain), Suryawanshi (wk), Arora, Janik, Kumarage, Mahboob, Mulewa, Param, Mutreja, Shinde, Singh.

Re: 2012 ICC WCL Division Four Live Updates - USA vs. Singapore
Mishra entered this tournament with high expectations, especially after scoring 2 50s for USA at the ICC World T20 Qualifier with one coming in an upset win over Scotland. However, he pays the price for a poor shot against Denmark and a duck against Nepal. Baker was shuffled around the batting order during this tour yet again to accommodate others, reminiscent of the tour to Hong Kong, but did not adjust well.
In the other game of importance Nepal has won the toss and will bat first against Denmark at Kinrara Oval where they beat USA yesterday. If they can post 250+ again, USA should feel very confident that Nepal will pull out a win USA desperately needs. It's bright and incredibly sunny out right now. Another 90+ degree day here in KL. There are some clouds around, but nothing threatening. The pitch looked like it had a little bit of grass on it, not nearly as bare as the one USA played Nepal on at Kinrara on Friday. If they can get off to a similar start to the one they had on this ground against Malaysia, they will be one step closer to victory themselves.

Re: 2012 ICC WCL Division Four Live Updates - USA vs. Singapore
Singapore huddling up here before taking the field. They're in red uniforms with white numbers and letters and white trim down the sides. Sushil Nadkarni and Steven Taylor walk out to open for USA. They hold up for a brief moment so ICC photographer Peter Lim can get a shot of them before stepping over the rope to the field of play. It is unbelievably sunny out right now. USA needs to post 275 here and make Singapore toil in the field for three and a half hours like USA had to do on Friday vs. Nepal. Saad Janjua, the Singapore captain, will open the bowling from the Tower End, right arm fast medium to Nadkarni on strike. Two slips in place. Long leg and third man on the rope. Janjua around the wicket to start. Wide, first ball bouncer clears Nadkarni by 3 feet and duly signaled wide by the leg umpire. Wide, short and this time way outside off. Dot, full and pushed to mid off. Single, full outside off, leans forward to push it into the covers. Taylor comes on strike for his first ball, Janjua stays around the stumps. Dot, full on the stumps, defended to cover by Taylor. Wide, short and well outside off. Dot, full outside off, driven to mid off. Second slip comes out and goes to cover. Square leg comes into a catching position at short midwicket. FOUR! Full and wide, driven square in front of point for USA's first boundary. Dot, short of a length outside off, left alone. USA 8/0 in 1.
In the Nepal game, Subash Khakurel, who scored 115 vs. USA, was out second ball of the match for a duck against Denmark. Nepal 9/1 in 1 over.

Re: 2012 ICC WCL Division Four Live Updates - USA vs. Singapore
Amjad Mahboob to open the bowling from the Bayuemas End, right arm medium to Nadkarni over the stumps. Dot, good length outside off and left and right away the umpire has a word with him about running onto the pitch in the restricted area in his follow through. Single, full and pushed toward cover, well judged run. Dot, good length ball on the legs, defended to square leg. Leg bye, good length on the pads, misses a flick, off the pads behind square. Dot, good length ball beats Nadkarni's back foot defense. The umpire has another word with Mahboob about running onto the pitch, not sure if he's been given an official warning yet. FOUR! Low full toss, Nadkarni just pushes it back down the pitch for an easy boundary. USA 14/0 in 2.

Re: 2012 ICC WCL Division Four Live Updates - USA vs. Singapore
Janjua to Taylor. Wide, short outside off, Taylor goes to cut, wide signaled as it's out of reach. Single, full on the legs, clipped to long leg. Dot, full outside off and left alone. Wide, short and well outside off, very undisciplined bowling from Janjua at the start, five wides in less than two overs. Dot, full and defended to cover. USA's bench is making lots of noise for every ball, the most animated they've been all week long. Wide, full and way outside off. A little surprised Janjua hasn't tried coming over the stumps since he can't get his radar right around the wicket. Dot, full toss at the ribs, prodded back down the pitch, two days ago that was a certain no ball. The waist height no ball calls have been very inconsistent all tourney. FOUR! Full on the legs, flicked fine and it races through fine leg. Dot, full and pushed to cover. USA 22/0 in 3.

Mahboob to Taylor. Dot, fullish length outside off, Taylor goes to drive down the ground and is beaten. Two, short and wide, late cut behind point, third man on the rope circles around to stop a boundary but they run an easy two. Dot, good length ball defended to midwicket. EDGE! FOUR! Full outside off, Taylor came forward to defend, the ball clips the edge and goes low to the left of Kumarage at second slip. He dives and it just eludes him before racing to the rope. Dot, low full toss slapped to mid on. Dot, good length ball defended off the back foot to point. USA 28/0 in 4.

Re: 2012 ICC WCL Division Four Live Updates - USA vs. Singapore
Dharmichand Mulewa enters the attack in place of Janjua, off spin over the stumps to Nadkarni. Mid off goes back to the rope and deep midwicket is put in place as well, third man and fine leg come into the ring. Dot, good length ball beats Nadkarni's front foot defense. Slip is also in place. Dot, full on the stumps, mistimes a drive for point, wanted to hit that down the ground. Dot, full on the legs, LBW shout denied, pitching outside leg. Dot, fullish length ball, Nadkarni goes to late cut and misses. Dot, full and defended on the back foot to point. Dot, flighted ball lands full, defended. Maiden, very good one as well from Mulewa. Kept Nadkarni off balance. USA 28/0 in 5.

Re: 2012 ICC WCL Division Four Live Updates - USA vs. Singapore
Arjun Mutreja comes on to bowl off spin and now both Taylor and Nadkarni call for a hat to replace their helmets. Mutreja will start around the stumps to Taylor. Slip in. Deep midwicket and long off on the rope. Single, good length ball on the legs, guided to fine leg. Dot, full on the legs, Nadkarni tried to push that into midwicket for a run but was sent back. Dot, full outside off and left. Dot, full on the stumps, Nadkarni goes to drive straight and gets a leading edge to cover. Dot, full and defended. Dot, full and defended in front of point. USA 29/0 in 6.

Re: 2012 ICC WCL Division Four Live Updates - USA vs. Singapore
Mulewa to Taylor. Dot, full and defended. Dot, good length ball defended on the front foot. Four leg byes, Taylor goes to sweep a fullish ball, that's how he got out Friday, misses the shot and it clips his pad to go past the keeper and just makes it to the rope. Dot, fullish length outside off, Taylor reaches out to drive and is beaten. FOUR! This time it's a little fuller and he's able to get to the pitch as a result, driving it forcefully wide of long off through the covers. Single, short of a length outside off, slapped to long off. USA 38/0 in 7.

Re: 2012 ICC WCL Division Four Live Updates - USA vs. Singapore
Mutreja to Taylor. Dot, very full outside off, driven to point. Dot, fullish length defended on the front foot. Dot, short outside off, smacked hard but straight to cover off the back foot. DROPPED! FOUR! Low full toss driven straight at Janjua at short midwicket and he seemed unprepared. It goes through his hands to his right and races to the rope. Taylor with a life on 17, moves to 21. Dot, full and clipped to square leg. Dot, full and defended. USA 42/0 in 8.

Mulewa to Nadkarni around the stumps. Dot, full and defended. Dot, full outside off and left. Dot, short of a length outside off, cut hard to backward point. Dot, fullish length outside off, prods at it and spoons it short of extra cover. Now Janjua moves himself from short midwicket to short extra cover. The horse already bolted from the gate captain! Dot, full and defended. Leg slip now brought in to join slip. Dot, full and driven to short extra cover. Maiden again for Mulewa to Nadkarni. USA 42/0 in 9.

Re: 2012 ICC WCL Division Four Live Updates - USA vs. Singapore
Mutreja to Taylor. Two, full on the stumps, flicked to deep square leg, diving stop by the man running from deep midwicket.Dot, full and driven to point. SIX! Full toss spanked high and deep through the cameramen's tower at the Bayuemas End over the sightscreen at long on. They have to work some to find the ball. 50 up for USA. Dot, full on the legs, clipped to short fine leg. Single, full outside off and driven to long off. Dot, full and defended to cover. USA 51/0 in 10. Fantastic start.
Nepal has just lost their second wicket, and someone who needed to stay there for USA's cause, one of Nepal's best two batsmen, Gyanendra Malla has been run out. Nepal 44/2 in 11.

Re: 2012 ICC WCL Division Four Live Updates - USA vs. Singapore
Mulewa to Taylor. Now the field rearranged some. Long on is on the rope and a cover sweeper also joins long off and deep midwicket on the rope. Slip in place, four others also in the ring. FOUR! Short outside off, Taylor was not in control of this cut shot and it flies just to the right of the man at backward point who was very slow to react, he dove but couldn't reach it. Dot, full outside off, Taylor goes to defend, appeal for caught behind denied. Dot, quicker ball flat and full defended to backward point. Single, full and driven to long on. Nadkarni has had 19 straight dots, 12 of them against Mulewa and is back on strike to face him. Dot, full and defended. Dot, full and defended to cover. USA 56/0 in 11.
