ok nsj,

let me tackle your points one by one.. Why bring SMG into it? read his piece on this wensite about fatigue.

As far as SRT is concerned, how many BIG test series's has he missed? And can we compare MSD's current status to SRT's?

I wanted this to be an open debate.. Think I've succedded :) . I hope others contribute as well

Kudos to MSD - For al the questions raised by the writer.. He has done something which neither Sachin nor Gavaskar (for al their talent and standing in Indian Cricket) could do.

As far as monetary tradeoffs vis a vis playin for the country goes think Sachin hasnt set too many glowing trends to emulate (playing in IPL under pressure of missing the big pay packageand missing the Asia cup coz of it)

As much as i wud want to praise everything Sachin's done in his 20 odd years - whtever MSD does seems fresh and pro Indian cricket

Maybe Pepsis timing mkt rite:)

Quite amusing the entire apology incident - Heat of the moment lasts for a moment isnt it? - Not when the umpire holds u and asks u to think abt the appeal over again.

I dont believe in the Collingwood apology - i dont believe in the Ponting - Clark patchup either

Think it drives down to what one is willing to compromise for the sake of winning - refuse to believe tht Sachin or Federer would ever do something like this

Agree with 'Sports do not build character. They reveal it'

Ponting hasn't covered himself with glory as a captain. With the quality of team at his disposal, his own leadership skills have been largely untested. In a few instances when they were, he has been found wanting.

Nice..

More often than not its the top 3 that had won matches for Daredevils..So we saw odds drastically reduce in the first over itself after Sehwag went.

Another observation in this particular match..One could see the aggression in Royals Captain even at 80 / 8 with the match already in the bag ..Warne encouraging his bowlers to 'chop them off'..Maybe its with being an Aussie or maybe its just being Warnie

As good as Ponting has been since taking over from Steve Waugh .. Warne in this month has shown wht a leader of men he is (or cud have been) and wht the Aussies missed in the 2005 Ashes series.Coz a normally marauding Aussie side 'needed a captain' then...
